In bleak urban spaces where one doesn't even know who lives next door, the disconnection between neighbors can escalate beyond indifference into conflict. I wanted to illustrate these conflicts arising from a lack of communication through the flyers commonly found in apartment complexes.
The man in Apartment 302, who was sorting recyclables at the recycling center, encounters the man in Apartment 301, who is bringing out some recyclable paper. Looking at the paper brought out by the man in Apartment 301, the man in Apartment 302 criticizes the man in Apartment 303. A few days later, the man in Apartment 302 discovers a flyer dropped in front of his front door and becomes suspicious of the man in Apartment 303. Angered, the man in Apartment 302 confronts the man in Apartment 303, but the man in Apartment 303 replies that he did not do it. At that moment, the man in Apartment 301, who had been watching the scene from the end of the hallway, smiles slyly and goes back into his apartment.
